Hey guys! I'm back! More or less...
I know that my Steam collection is pretty much outdated (though some new games have been uploaded) and in fact is currently split into to folders (the one the link for which you can see in my signature andthe one in "Temp"). But hopefully, if everything will go as I plan, during the summer I'll update everything as much as possible for me.
Now about why I was not around for so long. Well, firstly I had a very stressing year full of personal issues (my mother has died last year on 29th June, I finally got working and had to adapt to my job, had to adapt to maintaining two flats, get through the 4th course of univercity... Well, lots of stuff, which took a lot of time and effort and money).
Secondly, and this one, really concerns you guys, as user of my server: I've been trying to merge Serv-U FTP Server with vBulletin Forum Board. Why? Well... As some of you might know I host not only steam games, but other stuff, too. Lots of it, in fact (currently 4,8+ Tb). I try to keep it as organised as posisble, but still, FTP - is just a bunch of files. And I always wanted to add something like a description to most of stuff, that I have, so that user would know what they are really downloading. So I tried a http script (which is still online), but it's not good enough, escpecially, considering, that there are great limitation in downloading process. So, I've decided to make a file catalogue based on vBulletin and integrate it with Serv-U.
And now it's open on
http://a12.mine.nu . It's open in test only and it will have some minor cosmetic changes, and it will need to be filled with content, but the test of shared accounts can be started right now. So, you're all welcome to try it out.
What awaits those who will join? Well, currently, maintaining all the server stuff is not that easy, espcecially, considering the fact, that I am only one man and I have dozens of other responsobillities. So, unfortunately for all of you, I'll have to add some limitations to user accounts (not yet implemented, but will be during this or next week). There will be three main types of accounts:
Anonymous users: have a major speed limit and major quota no media playback through web-client
Registered users: have minor speed limit and minor quota no media playback through web-client
Premium users: no speed limit and no quota and media playback through web-client
Precise limitations are still being thought through, so if you have any suggestions you can post them on
http://a12.mine.nu . Also it's possible that there will be some other services, that user may find interesting, but they still only in my mind...
The premium accounts will be quite cheap, considering my own speed limit and, well, 'bout a dozen of other reasons. I'm thinking that it defenitely won't be more that $5 dollars per month, more likely $3 dollars, though it will depend on the final limitations I'll choose.
This is not from good life, as I hope you understand: this will be done to maintain the server and... Make it bigger. I currently have a list of hardware I will need to upgrade the server to more server-like standards and to extend the disk space and it will be quite costly. Though, do not be afraid: when I've written that registered user will have minot limitations I really meant that: if a user is not a leecher, probably he\she won't need a premium account.
Anyways, curreently there are still no limitations. And there are no premium accounts either. So, if you'd like, go to
